The competition series, which was developed and produced by Tim Harcourt, is an American adaptation of the British program of the same name. What’s the story of “The Circle”?
The comedy Michelle Buteau hosts Netflix’s reality series “The Circle,” which centers on friendships, developing romantic relationships, tactics, conflicts, and good humor. The participants in the program are housed in separate flats within the same building, meaning they never have face-to-face interactions.
Then, the only way the players communicate is through the accounts they make on the Circle, a voice-activated social media app. (The show added an AI chatbot element in Season 6!) With the aim of winning $100,000—or more, if the Spice Girls chance to stop by—and being selected the highest-rated player, players can present themselves anyway they like (cue catfishing!).
Every season, the competitors engage in group minigames to gain group ratings that grant them the ability to “block” or “eliminate” other players, so gaining “influencer” rank. Who are “The Circle” casting directors?
The two main figures in the casting department are Erin Tomasello (“America’s Got Talent,” “The Bachelor”) and Jazzy Collins (“The Traitors,” “Love Island USA”). Both of them support diverse casting, and Tomasello told Slate that “The Circle” enables them to appeal to a broad audience.
“There are thousands and thousands of people who would kill to be on television, but the difficult part of our work is sorting through all of those thousands and finding the real big ones,” Tomasello said. Adaptability, surely? My desire is to watch a show and connect with characters on it. Observing “The Bachelor,” I find it difficult to identify with those girls.
Those girls don’t look like me. I want to watch a show where the characters can relate to me, we can share something, and we can share a small amount of heart. That, in my opinion, is what makes “The Circle” unique. Everybody can find something to their liking.
What is the procedure for casting “The Circle”?
Interested parties should go directly to “The Circle’s” casting page, where clicking the “Apply Now” button will direct them to the application, when the show is actively casting. To engage in the American branch of the franchise, applicants merely need to be legal citizens of the United States or Canada and be 18 years of age or older, according to Distractify.
Those that advance to the next stages of the screening process will probably be required to submit to a background investigation and psychological evaluation, just like in many other reality TV programs. Previous candidates also informed the source that those who advance to the next round of casting must submit an introduction video, pictures of themselves, and their social network handles.

Netflix announced a casting call for “The Circle” Season 2 with us in the summer of 2020. The notice stated that the show will be filming for six weeks in October and November 2020 and was looking for talent between the ages of 21 and 75 from all ethnic backgrounds.
Daily pay was $100, and travel and shooting costs were covered. Applicants were required to provide their name, social media handles, and suggested competition strategy, among other things.
