Who is the “Sherlock & Daughter” casting director?
The main CDs behind Season 1 of “Sherlock & Daughter” are Louise Kiely and Karen Scully (“Normal People,” “The Watchers”).
For Kiely, background does not always equate to talent, even though many casting directors choose actors with professional training or agent representation. Kiely told Spotlight, “[I]f you have trained, that’s your journey and if you’ve decided to do that then good for you and I’m confident it’s been a rewarding experience.”

“Whether it’s for a self-tape or meeting with a director, preparation is crucial,” she informed us. “Read as much as you can if you are meeting with a director. Read the book, check out the Wikipedia articles, view the director’s work, and, of course, get as ready as you can.
Outside is where the work must be done. It’s kind of strange if you come in for a director and haven’t seen their work when it’s accessible. Know what you’re talking about, know your genre, and be prepared to tell them, “I liked this movie.”

We already think you’re great because you’re there, so just prepare to make it even better. I believe that I learned how to be an actor through improvisation in the technical college where I attended before attending drama school.
Your profession is not you. Hunt, who achieved success early in life, has discovered that one’s identity as an actor and one’s personal identity are entirely distinct, and that aspiring actors should make every effort to consistently develop their individuality. Hunt told ScreenRant, “When you’re an actor at the beginning of your career, you have to go with the flow for a while until you can, hopefully, take complete control.”
“I had to stop committing to my acting profession. My personal identity is unrelated to my identity as an actor or what I perform as an actor. My personality, the things I enjoy, and that social group are all unrelated to the films I make or the acting I do. I’m an actor, you know.
That was something I was unaware of. Being able to act and get compensated for it at all is a blessing. I’m trying not to put too much pressure on myself, simply enjoying life and going with the flow to see what comes next. Perhaps we only get one. Or whatever, at least one that we are aware of!
Really, rejection isn’t personal. Scott can attest that rejection is actually simply a part of the process, but for novices, it can feel like a personal failure. You should just utilize a “no” to motivate your quest for a “yes” because it doesn’t reflect on your abilities. As a young actor, Scott told us, “You get rejected so many times, and [it’s easy] to take it personally and think it’s all about you.”
“I can see from my current job that there are a lot of different reasons why you might not be awarded the role. When someone says no, your first thought is usually that it has nothing to do with your acting skills. Since many performers have self-doubt, I would advise my younger self to never doubt their abilities. After being knocked down, you get back up, pick yourself up, and continue.
