“Love Is Blind,” a reality dating program on Netflix, is returning! Season 7 premieres Part 1 on October 2 and releases new episodes every week until the conclusion on October 23. The perennial query: Is love really blind? should be clarified this season.
Fortunately, the popular show won’t be going out of style anytime soon; casting is already taking place in a number of places, including Atlanta, Miami, Columbus, Ohio, and the New England region.
What, therefore, makes this show so well-liked? The talent is the key component. In order to identify the ideal candidates for this experiment, the casting team, under the direction of CD Donna A. When casting “Love Is Blind,” certain crucial elements take precedence over appearances
Experienced casting director Driscoll not only selects actors for “Love Is Blind,” but also for a number of other Netflix reality series, including “Perfect Match,” “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On,” and “The Ultimatum: Queer Love.” She does clarify, though, that the casting procedure for “Love Is Blind” differs significantly from those of other dating or relationship programs.
“When we’re looking for [talent], the cast’s appearance isn’t the first thing that comes to mind,” Driscoll says of the unconventional aspects of the “Love Is Blind” cast. Rather, she claims that her team looks for performers who are “authentic” and “ready for marriage,” giving “everyday people” more importance than influencers and models.
“The primary thing we’re constantly searching for are [actual] folks who are doing well in life and are only lacking that one item. They are looking for people who “want to find the love of their life more than they want to be on Netflix,” she says, adding that the reason they wish to take part in the experiment is a major consideration.
The finest thing you can do during the audition process is to be authentic.
Although it’s common knowledge that drama is what creates great reality TV, Driscoll advises applicants not to focus too much on attempting to be a big character or over the top during their audition. Being “dialed into who you are, comfortable in your skin, and most importantly…comfortable being vulnerable” is what she suggests.

According to Driscoll, “if you put people who are authentic and willing to be vulnerable into this pod, that [entertaining aspect] is going to happen naturally because the experiment itself is so loud.” “It’s not like casting a game show where you need a huge, gregarious figure. In the end, genuineness is more important.
The most memorable audition from any of the “Love Is Blind” seasons is that of this participant.
Driscoll can still clearly recall the audition for Season 6 contender AD Smith. “She is unquestionably a force of nature,” Driscoll adds. There was something so endearing about her as soon as I saw her interview.
Although she has a strong sense of her identity, she also shows her heart on her sleeve. She is self-assured, charming, beautiful, and very willing to share her life story. She clearly stood out as a result.
For the “Love Is Blind” casting crew, these are warning signs
Reality television gives regular folks a platform to become well-known. However, Driscoll and her crew have to eliminate applicants who don’t seem sincere and only want to become famous while casting a dating show with marriage on the line. She lists the warning signs that the casting crew watches out for here.
- When someone says they’ll be a fantastic villain: “We find it extremely annoying when people say things like, ‘I’ll be the villain,’ or ‘I’ll make really great television.'” That’s not what we’re searching for. We want you to be who you are.
- Inquiring as to their level of fame from the show: “Of course, that’s an obvious [red flag].”
- People who don’t intend to settle down and take full use of the experiment: “We do get folks who say they’re ready [for marriage] but give us all the indications that they’re not ready, or who question whether [they] have to be single. Because, let me be honest, it’s not easy to get cast for a love show that culminates in marriage. Therefore, it typically filters out those who aren’t serious about starting a family.
Do you have a better chance of getting cast on “Love Is Blind” if you have acting experience?
Driscoll claims that while having experience in acting “definitely doesn’t disqualify anybody,” her team is “not looking for people who are trying to be actors and act during the experiment.”
When all is said and done, we read and evaluate each application. And for us, the most crucial thing is the application’s goal,” the CD states. “The truth about that intention will be exposed if we do wind up conducting a phone background check on someone.”
To what extent did compatibility factor into the casting of “Love Is Blind”?
The questionnaire, according to Driscoll, is an essential part of the casting process since it helps guarantee compatibility within the final ensemble in addition to identifying contestants who are sincere and prepared for the “Love Is Blind” experiment.
“When [our applicants] complete this compatibility step, they are genuinely getting ready and considering every question they would want to ask their companion in the pods. They appear to be psychologically getting ready as they complete the [Q&A].
And that’s why it’s vital, but when we put everything together, it’s also crucial that everyone understands and knows that everyone in the pods worked just as hard [by answering the Q&A].
Driscoll claims that although the questionnaire is crucial during the casting process, it doesn’t determine who will be paired with whom on the show.
Our primary goal is for someone to be proposed to, say “yes” at the altar, or say “yes” in the pod. “We all have a stake in the romance,” Driscoll argues. We are constantly hoping and considering individuals who might get along with one another. Nevertheless, kismet always takes over where we leave off and plays the largest part.
The finest tips for auditioning to be cast in “Love Is Blind”
- A strong social media presence is not necessary. When someone isn’t active on social media, Driscoll adds, “I actually get really excited because it shows me that [gaining followers] isn’t [their goal] at the end of the show.” “When someone isn’t on social media, it almost seems innocent, and it makes [them] more interesting.”
At the same time, though, I adore social media and the ability to view other people’s lives. It’s evident how full their lives are. Everyone in their orbit is visible. You can tell if they enjoy traveling and how they use dress to reflect who they are.
I also find all of these things to be really fascinating. Therefore, social media is not necessary to participate in the “Love Is Blind” experiment; it neither benefits nor harms you. It serves as a tool, sort of.
- Every time you talk to a member of the casting team, enjoy the chat. “You are the one who gets the call, and all of these programs get a ton of applications. Enjoy that moment. For thousands of individuals worldwide, this is the moment they have been waiting for. Simply converse with the casting associate as you would with your friends.
- Don’t let your anxiety to interfere. “No trick questions will be asked of you. When it comes to you, you are the expert, and we are discussing you. You are the story’s author and the expert. Therefore, simply be confident and open to sharing [your tale].
